Aquest UV Tech was approached by a contractor to supply a UV/AOP solution to treat municipal wastewater to potable reuse standards. The project involves a complex treatment train ending in UV combined with advanced oxidation step which achieves an overall 6 Log reduction in viruses and destruction of organics, recalcitrant chemicals, disinfection byproducts and other micropollutants. The UV equipment supplied was required to meet current flow rates and expanded flow/performance criteria for future flow increases within a limited footprint. The oxidant used in the UV/AOP reaction for CEC removal was hydrogen peroxide. UV/AOP is the most critical step in the project to meet the end water quality requirement specified by the consulting engineers in the project specifications and performance testing requirements.
